Shipping Rates Notes:

  1. We're proud to provide a unique service where you pay one fixed charge and we do all the rest - from your door to the final destination! We're here to free you up from all the worries and headaches of shipping stuff to Kenya!
  2. The shipping rates cover pick-up charges from your location for Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston. For other locations in US we have trucking associates that will ship your shipment to Dallas or Houston at very reasonable rates. Just give us a call when you're ready to ship.
  3. The shipping rates cover all the necessary documentation fees in US and in Kenya.
  4. The shipping rates cover trucking charges from Dallas or Houston to the Houston port.
  5. The shipping rates cover ocean freight charges from the Houston port to the Mombasa port.
  6. The shipping rates cover customs clearance charges in Kenya for all personal effects. For other types of items we'll advise you of additional charges for customs clearance where applicable.
  7. The shipping rates also cover delivery charges in Kenya to our distribution centers in the cities and towns mentioned above. Additional charges may apply for delivery to any other location.
  8. The shipping rates include a limited insurance from total loss of $100 per item provided by the shipping line during the time the container is in their hands. The shipping rates DO NOT include any other type of insurance. If you need door-to-door insurance of your items please let us know and we'll give you a reasonable quote from our insurance associates.
  9. Chilton Services reserves the right to change the above rates at any time depending on the nature and value of the items shipped.

Terms and Conditions of Shipment

When you ship your items with Chilton Services you agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  1. You will not ship any items that are illegal to ship from US to Kenya. It's your prime responsibility to find out the legality of your shipment. Chilton Services will not be responsible in any way if your items are seized or confiscated by government authorities for any violations of available regulations.
  2. Before any shipment each customer is required to fill in the exporter's declaration form to provide accurate and complete details of the items to be shipped. Chilton Services, its associates, and relevant government authorities reserve the right to open up any items and inspect them to ascertain the accuracy of the declaration provided by the customer.
  3. The time it takes Chilton Services to ship your items from US to Kenya depends on the duration of four main steps of the shipment: (i) consolidation of individual customer items to fill a container (ii) ocean freight from Houston to Mombasa (iii) Customs Clearance in Kenya (iv) Distribution to Chilton Services offices in Kenya. Neither of those durations is deterministic and cannot be guaranteed. Experience shows that the average total time is around 90 days. While Chilton Services cannot guarantee the delivery time, we promise to do whatever is in our abilities to deliver your items quickly and safely. Once we collect your shipment, we'll update you of the shipment status from time to time if you provide us with your contact e-mail address and phone number.
  4. Customers are expected to pay for all the applicable charges in advance. However, in the interest of helping Kenyans establish their small businesses in Kenya, we can provide flexible payment schemes in some special cases as we have done with many previous customers. Just let us know your situation and we'd be glad to consider it.
  5. Once consignees are informed of the arrival of their shipments in Kenya, they should pick them up from Chilton Services' offices within 7 days. Late pick-up will be charged daily storage fees of 5% of the total shipment cost. No shipment will be released prior to the payment of the storage fees that are due.
